JetBlue airlines recently announced daily flights linking Reno-Tahoe International Airport to JFK International Airport. With service beginning May 28, this will be the very first daily nonstop flight linking Reno-Tahoe with New York, the nation's most populous region and the financial world's epicenter.
This deal, more than a decade in the making, is the result of efforts from the region's business interests, and will likely impact all facets of the local economy, from tourism to economic development to business travel. Chris Baum, CEO of the Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority said, “This is big stuff. From meetings to conventions, Tesla, skiing. Every segment we pursue needs this service."
John Checketts, JetBlue director of Route Planning explained the move into the Reno market: "Reno has always been…intriguing to us with gaming, skiing, summer destinations. This will be a game-changer for income from New York as the population living here.”
Hey New York! Welcome to Tahoe!
