Sip & Savor the Summer at Northstar
June 27, 2014
“Nothing makes the future look so rosy as to contemplate it through a glass of Chambertin.”
– Napoleon Bonaparte (French emperor)
A sunny summer afternoon with a glass of wine is one of life’s great pleasures. The crisp mountain air and the beauty of Sierra Mountains provide an ideal background for this much loved pastime. Happily, Northstar and Truckee provide ample opportunities to enjoy your favorite beverage this summer.
The Village at Northstar's Summer Wine Walks kick off on June 28. Held on the last Saturday of each month, guests enjoy wine and hors d'oeuvres throughout the Village. Live music will be featured at Petra, the final stop on the walk.
When you can’t make it to the walks in the Village, Petra is an excellent option for wine tasting. The Mediterranean inspired tapas menu is an excellent foil for their extensive wine list, and their outdoor patio offers the perfect setting. Sign up for their wine club for home delivery.
Spend an afternoon at this local tasting room featuring wines produce from the area’s highest and coldest winery. Sample hand crafted wines, enjoy tapas and artisan deli products, or challenge your friends to a game of bocce ball, horseshoes or croquet. Fido is welcome at this pet friendly local’s favorite.
On select Thursdays throughout the summer, guests can partake in a culinary adventure at Manzanita at the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe. Specially designed five course dinners, prepared by Chef Jeremey Grossman, will be paired with featured Northern California Wines. On the schedule this year are wines from Chalk Hill, Antinori, Rodney Strong and Stag’s Leap
On the second Sunday of each month, the Thunderbird Lodge hosts invited chefs and winemakers to create an event not to be forgotten. After wine and hors d’oeuvres in the Old Lodge, tour the historic grounds and take in the views from the stone terrace of this spectacular lakefront landmark. A meticulously planned sunset dinner, private tastings and an auction round out the evening.
